Visit to Pickin in Park

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Ronnie and I made a visit to the W. Kerr Scott Park in Wilkesboro, North Carolina today.  The amphitheater is more than I could have imagined.  There is seating for 800-900 on the side of a hill facing the Forest Edge Amphitheater.  At the top of the hill is the Laura Shelter with enough seating for another 150.  I will post more pictures on our bulletin and concert pages on our site. There are picnic tables for us to sit and eat barbeque chicken and pork, hot dogs and snacks while we listen to all the singing!

We have already started receiving door prizes…the banners have arrived…and the signs ready to be placed in Wilkesboro and surrounding towns.  We are starting to put out flyers in places of business and the radio announcements begin August 1. We have volunteers ready to help us run the camcorder, take pictures, watch our tape table, sell hot dogs and barbeque plates and just general last minutes things we haven’t thought of yet.  Please hold us up in prayer as we take on this new endeavor.  We believe the Lord will smile upon our effort and what we need most is His presence.

Holiday Inn Express has given us a special rate of $75 including a hot breakfast for mentioning He Died For Me group.  The manager also requested some flyers!  We had lunch in Applebees today and they gave us a gift card for a door prize and one of our pastors donated a $50 visa card to be given away.  Ronnie is giving for a grand prize a Fender accoustic guitar to be signed by all the singers.  Everything is starting to fall into place.  We are down to the last 5 weeks….hope to see you there!

Several New Churches….Thank You

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Ronnie and I have been to several new churches this year.  This week we started with Brad Jay in Saluda, South Carolina and met many new friends along with several of our friends from Laurens, Aiken, Langley and Columbia.  There we met another new pastor from W. Columbia and are looking forward to our meeting with him in October.

We traveled to a Campmeeting with the Gunn’s in Crawfordville, Florida for the first time but were so happy to see old friends from Otter Creek and East Point where I had preached over 20 years ago long before I had met Ronnie.  We started the meeting with my brother, Mike, on Sunday night where we watched five backslidders return to the Lord.  It was great to see them return to the meetings on Monday still seeking His face!  We look forward to returning to that area again real soon with the Hatfield’s in East Point.

Last night we ended a meeting with the Turner’s in St. Augustine, Florida.  It was such a wonderful meeting with a young girl giving her heart to the Lord coming off drugs after hearing how God changed my life.  It was like going back 34 years and watching myself in a mirror starting again.  We were so happy being in a new church and seeing old friends come in from Hilliard, Palatka and Macclenny.

Then I can’t talk about Florida meetings without saying how much we love their fresh shrimp and Blue Crab!  I think we have eaten enough this week to carry us for a while!

Today we are on our way to another new church in Pelham, Georgia where Ronnie’s niece is music minister.  We are so excited to yet again meet new friends in Jesus!  I would like to thank all our pastors and friends, new and old for the kindness they have showed to us this week.  You make our traveling days very pleasant and the meetings a great refreshing.  Thank You.  Ronnie and Becky

Pickin in the Park

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Ronnie and I are preparing for our first Pickin in the Park 2009 at the W. Kerr Scott Park on Saturday August 22.  We have ordered signs, banners and flyers to help advertise in the local area.  We are mailing flyers to our pastors inviting everyone to come join with us for a full day of singing, worship, and fellowshipping together in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  We will have hot dogs with, of course, Ronnie’s favorite….mustard, chili and onions….along with nachos, snacks and Skinner’s Barbeque….boston butt and barbeque chicken…from Ronnie’s home area of Woodruff, South Carolina.  We are finalizing all our plans and getting excited at what the Lord is going to do in the midst of His people.  We invite you all to come by and spend the afternoon with us along with 17 other singers and groups from several different areas.  We will be posting motel information on our bulletin page soon.  We look forward to seeing you there!

HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!

Campmeeting was such a great success again this year.  The Lord is faithful to meet with us every year.  We have received reports of Him touching the lives of His people without any one man or woman receiving recognition for the touch!

We reached 300 by Friday night with chairs sitting around the outer edge of the tent and people standing outside on the tent lot and sitting in cars!  We had over 30 pastors and evangelists take part in a prayer line for everyone in the meeting needing a touch from the Lord.

Sometime during the Friday night meeting, Sister Hensley was healed.  She had been walking with a cane for 3 years and unable to stand for more than 5 minutes without sitting back down because of a problem with her knee.  The Lord healed her and she came to the Minister’s Prayer Breakfast Saturday morning praising God without a cane and with no difficulty standing.  She returned Saturday night to sing and give glory to her Healer!  We are praising God for His touch and His faithfulness to His children!

Every meeting has it’s own story of His touch.  We are resting this week for a few days and reliving each night and thanking God for all that He did for us!

I want to personally thank each pastor that encouraged their people to come and take part in this meeting.  Also for all those that helped make the meeting possible…helping take pictures, run the camcorder, bringing food, helping set up and take down the tent, put out flyers and yard signs, notify radio and television to advertise the meeting, every musician that was so faithful to come take part and every singer that brought their anointing to bless the people, every evangelist and pastor drawing from their well for a word in season for the meeting.  There are too many to mention, but we appreciate all you have done to help make this Campmeeting such a great success!  Thank you.  We love you.  Ronnie and Becky

Thank God for His healing power!

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

We are in the last 3 days of our Campmeeting and God has been so good to us!  We are already receiving reports of healings that have taken place this week in the meetings.  No one person is being singled out but Jesus is being magnified!  We are all laborers together with Jesus Christ and a body ministry that needs every part of the body working together!

When David brought the ark into Israel they first joined together in unity.  When the Holy Ghost fell on the day of Pentecost, they were all in one accord….God loves for His people to walk together in unity!

We are so happy to have Mike’s family here together for the meeting.  Amy is playing the organ, Beth on the drums, and both of them singing with Sally in the beginning of each meeting.  Aaron is filming for our dvds and Casey is our all-around helper while she practices piano and guitar during the day.  It is only a few times a year I can be with a part of my family in meetings and this is always a highlight for me!

I am looking forward to hearing more reports continuing to come in of the healing power of Jesus Christ taking place in the remainder of these meetings.  We are rejoicing today for Donna being healed of anxiety attacks this week.  After needing an hour to drive 20 miles because of her anxiety….she drove 45 minutes down the mountain to Mt Airy free of any attack last night!

We will be adding pictures in the next few days.  We want to share this great meeting with you on our site!  God bless.   Becky
